Our Mission

Katie DeCubellis was a visionary, mentor and friend. She was killed by a drunk driver. Katie was 13. The Katie DeCubellis Memorial Foundation continues her legacy by promoting youth leadership, supporting education, and generating public awareness of the dangers of drunk driving and substance abuse.

Speaking Engagements

During the program, John and Meg introduce their audience to Katie through various photographs, stories and Katie’s poetry, and discuss the importance of making responsible decisions and the consequences of not doing so. The final portion of the program consists of an informal question and answer session, where the audience is encouraged to ask any questions no matter how difficult or personal those questions might be. John and Meg believe this part of the program is extremely important because it addresses what is on the students’ minds and they will hopefully all learn from each others’ questions.

Speaking programs usually range in size from 400 to 1100 students, faculty and parents.   If you are interested in scheduling John and Meg to speak to your school or organization, please contact us.

Garden of Hope and Remembrance Dedication

The Narragansett High School Girls Lacrosse Team attacked the weeds and brush at the Garden of Hope and Remembrance that accumulated over the winter months, much like they attack their opponents.  (story by the Patch).

The garden is centrally located in the park and overlooks the various ball fields and tennis / basketball courts.  The garden features a sitting area with a metallic recreation of the "Sunshine" image Katie created.  The Providence Journal was on-hand for the dedication and captured some of the day's events.   way are engraved with messages of hope and remembrance from supporters of the organization.  If you would like more information on the memorial or would like to purchase a brick to support the project, please click here.

Visit the Photo Gallery for pictures of the dedication ceremony.
